how do i validate age

I am trying to work out how to do the following:
I have a table where one of the fields contains a date of birth with the
date/time format. i need to create a validation rule where it will show an
error message if a date of birth is entered that is under 18.

I can create a rule where if any date of birth after a certain date isnt
valid (i.e todays date in 1988) but does this mean i have to update the rule
every day?

Any help will be much appreciated...

Try this validation rule. It is a modification of the first equation at

DateDiff("yyyy",[BirthdayFieldName],Date())+Int(Format(Date(),"mmdd")<Format([BirthdayFieldName],"mmdd"))>=18
