File|Open and choose either 'All files (*.*)' or the appropriate file type
for your text file, then select your file from the list.

Just browse to the *.txt file and open it.

When you have it opened in Excel, massage the data to the appropriate formatting
then save as an Excel workbook.

Dotties,

If I understand you correctly, you want to get an ascii file into an excel
sheet to use as a data source for a label mail merge in Microsoft Word. If
the ascii file will open directly into Excel, then you can use the ascii
file as your data source for the labels. No need to put it into Excel.
