How do I turn on autosuggest name completion?

G

Guest

I just went from Outlook Express to Outlook and I noticed I do not have
autosuggest name completion any longer. When I read the online help, it
tells me that this feature is a default. It tells me how to turn it off, but
not how to turn it back on. Can someone please help.

Thank you!

If it were that simple I would not be asking for help. There is no box to
check to enable as the default is to have it on. But thank you for your
response.

You've posted no information.
What Outlook version?
If it is on by default, then it is on. Why do you think it isn't?
You won't see it work until you've send enough messages to populate your
autocompletion cache.

Hi Russ, it is OUtlook 2000. I know its not on because as I keep sending to
the same individual, I need to keep retyping the whole email address. So,
no, the default is not on. Thanks for your response.

Why didn't you say so? It's very hard to answer questions when there is no
information.
Outlook 2000 has no such feature. Versions of Outlook earlier than Outlook
2002 have no autocompletion feature. They have a feature called
auto-resolution. If you enter part of a name or a nickname then tab out of
the field (or hit Alt-K [Check Names]), Outlook will attempt to resolve the
name against your address book. If it can't it'll red underline it and you
can right click on the name to manually resolve it. Outlook will save the
resolution for future use.

Ah, well no wonder. :)

You need to upgrade to a more recent version of Outlook to get the
AutoSuggest feature.

Sorry but again, you are incorrect. Outlook 2000 help even tells you that
that feature is offered. It tells you though, that it is the default. It
doesn't tell you how to turn it back on once the default has been changed.

I'm sorry YoYo but Russ is correct. Outlook 2002 is the first version that
offered that feature.

Here's a KB article that confirms:
