How do I sync only recent email from exchange server to netbook?

I would like my netbook to only display a few month's email rather than all
of it. At the moment it has downloaded 4,000+ items from the Exchange server,
and I wonder if that's why using outlook is so incredibly slow/stalling. Is
there a setting to change how much old mail ends up on the netbook (like you
can specify on a phone?) I'm using Outlook 2007 on an Asus EEE PC901. Thank
you

Right click the folder-> Properties-> tab Synchronization

Have you applied Service Pack 2 already to Office 2007? Slowness and
stalling says more about the read/write capabilities and amount of memory of
your netbook. An ost-file of 2GB should not cause any stalling on any
system. Most systems should have no issues with 5GB either. When you go
beyond that, hardware starts to play a more important role.
