How Do I Stop This Automatic Defragging??

I uninstalled Diskeeper 8 because this thing keeps defragging the hard drive
when computer is idle. After uninstall its still doing it! I renamed
'defrag.exe and dfgntkrnl.exe' but it just installs a new defrag and
dfgntkrnl in the System32 folder and starts defragging again! How can I make
it stop before my hard disk wears out!

It can be disabled with tweakui under general|optimize hard disk when idle.

You could have removed the scheduled job of defragging during cpu idle times
using Diskeeper's configuration settings. Kind of hard to do it now.

By the way, how did you "uninstall" Diskeeper? Did you just to to the
Program Files folder and delete the Diskeeper folder? That's like trying to
rip the skin off your leg when your leg actually needs to be cut off at the
hip. Use "Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs" to correctly uninstall
programs -- otherwise you will leave your harddrive file structure and
Registry in a mutilated condition.

who would just I delete a program in the Program Files folder manually?? I
used the Add/Remove Programs like everybody else. I didnt know there was
setting like that in TweakUI so I unchecked the box and it stopped
defragging! Thanks!

If you know how to use "Add/Remove Programs", why don't you know how to
configure a program using its options menus? Diskeeper sets a scheduled
task which does background defragging. It does this by default. You need
to remove the task from the tasklist in Diskeeper.
