How do I stop the preview pane from stelaing focus?

Not sure what happened. I didn't install any updates or anything, but now,
whenever I select a message in the message list, as soon as the message
appears in the preview pane, the keyboard focus is changed to the preview
pane. I used to be able to use the arrow keys to scroll through messages and
check the content in the preview pane. Now I have to switch the focus back
to the message list on every message. Is there a setting somewhere that
tells Outlook how to manage focus? Thanks.

What version of Outlook?
