How do I stop hyperlink code from displaying?

For some reason, Word has started to display the backend code for any
hyperlink, rather than the text.

I cannot find how to turn this off (toggle back to text) in 2007. BTW, it is
not due to the Show/Hide paragraph setting. Can anyone help?

You might want to Edit Hyperlink to see what is displayed in the "text to
display" value for the hyperlink. It's not really a toggle function ---
right-click on the hyperlink and you can Edit, Select, Open, Copy or Remove
the hyperlink.

I am not totally sure I understand your explanation correctly, but it sounds
as if you only need to toggle field codes. To do this, press Alt+F9.

Hyperlinks are fields and fields can be in two modes: they can show the
result, i.e. the content that will print, or they can show the code behind.
Alt+F9 toggles field codes on and off.
