how do I split tables in Word 2007?

I am trying to split a long table into two smaller tables. This was easy in
Word 2003 where there is a 'split table' option was available in the table
menu but I can't find where that option is hidden in Word 2007. Can anyone
help, please?

Hi JoAnn,

Thanks for the tip but I tried searching the help files. I got responses on
how to split cells, how to put line spaces before a table and a lot on
formatting but nothing on splitting the table itself.

I like 2007 on the whole, it's just frustrating when you can't find tools
you used to take for granted...

Go to
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA100744321033.aspx

Click on "Start the guide". When you perform a command in the simulated Word
2003 interface, it will tell you how to do it in 2007.

That's a brilliant tool - I have bookmarked it and will be emailing it to all
of my colleagues!

Plus I have found out how to split tables in 2007 - many thanks.

When the cursor is in a table, you'll see the Table Tools tab on the
ribbon. Click the Layout tab under that. In the Merge group in the
middle of the ribbon, you should see the Split Table button.

Since I too am switching over at home, you can be sure that tool will get a
workout on my computer as well.

And when you send that helpful message, include ...

I found the 'Split Table' command but when I try click on it, a heavy line
appears in my table. It doesn't actually 'split' the table into two. HELP!
