How do I sort distribution lists in contacts in outlook

My distribution lists show up before the alpha sorting of my contacts, but
they are not in any particular order that I can see. I want to sort them
alphabetically also. Is there a way?

Are you sure its first character is not a space?

Yes, I'm sure.
I created, for example, distribution lists titled:
Logicalis Invoice
Intercall
Third Floor IT

and that is how they are sorted. I did not create them in that order and
they are not aphabetical, so I am stumped!

What version of Outlook and what view are you using?

Office 2003 and address card view. Also, my fields are: company, full name,
mailing address, etc. and the sort is company, last name. If that helps . .
..

I tested this and what I see is all my DLs in the order in which they were
created, all the contacts that have no company field sorted by last name,
then all the contacts that do have company fields, sorted by company first,
then last name within the company.

Thanks for the info. That is the problem, though. I would like to have the
DL's in alpha order, not the order in which I created them. Any thoughts?

If you are using Address Card view, set their File As... field correctly.

Yes. Sort on a field they contain. You're sorting on Company and Last
Name, neither of which your DLs have. What would you have Outlook do? It's
like someone asking you to sort books using the English alphabet when the
titles contain only cyrillic characters. Try adding a third item to the
sort: "File As". Sort first by Company, then by Last Name, then by File As.
Your DLs will still be at the front of the list, but they'll be
alphabetical.
