How do I setup Windows Messenger to work only on corporate network?

Gary

Hello,
Does anybody know how to setup Windows Messenger on XP
professional boxes, so that users can only chat with other
users on the corporate LAN?

If so, can you please point me in the right direction.
Thanks.
Gary.

Jonathon,
What "SIP-based Communications Services" are available?
Can they be run on a NetWare 5.1 server? Alternatively,
can any of them be run on Solaris or Redhat Linux?
We will not be buying Microsoft Exchange, but would still
like to use the Windows Messenger capability of XP, within
a corporate LAN only.
Regards,
Gary.

Greetings Gary,

Although there are registry keys that you can set to
restrict Windows Messenger to use an
Exchange IM Server or SIP-based Communications Service
(which I assume you're not using,
since you didn't mention it), there is no way to restrict the use of Messenger to just
internally if you're using the public .NET Messenger
Service. All messages go to and from
the public Messenger servers, so it's nearly impossible
to make this type of restriction.
