How do I set up tasks with due dates based on other tasks

The tasks feature is great in outlook. However there is one shortcoming the
due dates tasks has be an absolute date. The software does not allow
dependent dates. For example if I have a friends birthday coming up I can
create a task to attend it but I also need to create a separte task to remind
myself to buy something for him/he and a task to inform our mutual friend a
week before so that they can wish him/her. If their was a way to assign due
dates to tasks based on some days difference to other tasks. You know what it
will be cool....
