How do I set up conference rooms to track resource availability?

My office has set up conference rooms as a separate public folder and it
doesn't check availability. Can you please advise on how to set up conference
rooms in the address book in order to check availability and to schedule
meetings using the room as a resource. I also want the busy/free to appear
when I choose the room in my meeting request.

Not with Public Folders. You need a mailbox that is configured to
be a resource.

The following articles explain in detail how to configure the resource
and how to book it correctly.

However, If you use Exchange Server I would suggest the use
of the AutoAccept Agent. We use this with great success.
