how do i set up a net work contacts list?

Hi I work in a small office enviroment and we want to have a contacts list
and diary on microsoft outlook which every one can use in the office and also
edit it.
We tryed to use the sharing folder facility to share the contacts but for
some reason it did not work.
We have got our own server and we would just like to know how to get it
started.
