How do I set a hyperlink to a network folder

I'm trying to set a hyperlink to a folder which resides on a company network.
When I initially setup the hyperlink, the link works fine. However, when I
save the document, the hyperlink changes and causes an "address of this site
is not valid" error. I've tried various versions of the hyperlink without any
success. The link changes to the following address after I save the document:
.../../../../network/folder-name when it should be in the format
\\network\folder-name.

Actually, I just solved my own problem. I used the Files|SaveAs|Tools|Web
Options|Files| and unchecked the "Update links on save" option. That stopped
Word from trying to update my hyperlink to whatever weird location it was
trying to point it to.
