How do I see an excel spreadsheet in a word document

I have been using office 1997 and 2000 for several years but office 2003
seems different.

To produce invoces we have a WORD document with an excel spreadsheet
embedded into it. In all other versions of WORD I can immediately see and
edit the spreadsheet. In word 2003 all I can see is a path {Embed
Excel.Sheet.8} Although I can open and edit this excel sheet by right
clicking it, it is not as easy to work with as the older version.

Is there a way to over come this?
