How do I screen personal appointments in Calendar?

My boss puts everything on his calendar -- and I mean everything! From
birthdays to anniversaries to business trips and office meetings -- and since
his calendar, along with the rest of the office staff's is shared, we can see
everything he's put in there.

Here's what I need to know: He has the birthdays and anniversaries (and
other personal appointments) classified as "personal". Is there a way to
"tell" the Calendar portion of Outlook to omit all events classified as
"personal" from the rest of us? I know he can go in and click the "Private"
checkbox, but that's a LOT of things to check. He (and I) were wondering if
there was just a way to have Outlook omit all his personal stuff in one fell
swoop. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

create a view that uses categories - set it to not show items in personal
category.

Would that view apply to everyone who has access to that calendar? What
would stop them from shifting the view on their copy of Outlook to see these
personal appointments?

It won't - but if you just want a less cluttered view, it works.

You do know you can group by category and private fields and drag the
personal items to private to make them private?

But if others can just change their view to see these private items, then
that won't work. A "less cluttered view" is irrelevant to what was asked.

Thanks for the help, Diane, but I will just have to tell him that what he
wants isn't implemented in Outlook.
