When I went to copy a file from powerpoint to cd for my daughters school
presentation today it came up with 'read only'. I have been into Windows
explorer and selected the file and right clicked...it does not say that it is
read only!! Help. I just dont know how to copy it. I also tried a floppy
and the message came up insufficient space on disk

Don't you have a local copy of the presentation on your hard disk, other
than the one you have on CD? Is the presentation on the hard disk, or the
one on the CD giving the read only warning?

Geetesh,

I saved the presentation on my hard drive and when i went to copy it to a cd
for my daughter to take to school, it showed file is read only. I right
clicked on the file in Windows Explorer, properties and 'read-only' is not
selected so I dont know why it comes up read only! When I put in a floppy it
says 'insufficient space on disk' but it is empty!

Are you saying that you cannot copy the presentation to a CD?

And if you are not saying that, which presentation are you right-clicking in
Windows Explorer - the one on the hard disk, or the one on the CD?

A VERY common problem. This can be a result of a font that's not
recognized (although it is usually reflected in the error message) or
it sometimes relates back to how it was originally saved.

Sometimes you can do this:
Open the original presentation on the drive
Rename it anything
Select save as:
You will see the dialogue box open up. Look at the far top right for a
Tools drop down
Select Tools and drop down to the Save Options
From there be sure and select Embed True Type Fonts AND select
Characters in use only
Hit OK

Now under the same Tools drop down again, drop down to the properties
option
Look under Attributes and you will see Read Only checked.
Un check it and hit apply
Now select the option for apply changes to this folder only and hit OK.

Don't look at it again. Go through your CD burining process and see
what happens.

Let me know if this helped.
