How do I save/keep a template that I download?

I like to go out on the site and find new design templates for my
presentations. After I've downloaded the template for use, how do I
save/keep the .pot file for future use?

Instead of trying to find out where to save the template, etc., what I have
found quite easy to do is to:

1. Save the downloaded file to your desktop
2. Double-click the template to create a new presentation based on the
template
3. Immediately click "File", "Save as", change the "Save as type" dropdown
to "Design Template (*.pot)" (this changes the folder location to a good
template folder)
4. Give it a name and save it
5. Close the template
6. Click "File", "New", browse to and select this new template (just to make
sure it saved fine)
7. Close PowerPoint
8. Delete the downloaded version on your Desktop
