how do I retrieve an e-mail sent in error

I inadvertently sent an e-mail to the wrong recipient. How can I retrieve an
e-mail sent from outlook quickly

Unless you're both using Exchange and the recipient has not opened the
message, you can't.

In an Exchange environment you can open the message from Sent Items and
choose "Recall this message."

But in all cases you are not able to pull a message without permission from
the recipient so don't bother trying to use that feature and send an apology
instead.

Thanks, I have tried the recall as suggested but may have to take the
approach you outlined. A case of 'More haste, less speed'.
