How do I retain messages replied to or forwarded In Outlook 2000

I have Outlook 2000. Whenever I forward or reply to a message,
it gets removed from my Inbox, to be found no where. The
original message is not only supposed to be retained in the Inbox,
but a banner is supposed to be added to the original indicating
action taken (replied to or forwarded), and the date and time the
action was taken.
Are there any settings or preferences I overlooked? If not, what
can I do?

Thank you,
Dennis R. Guidi

There's a setting to Save Replies and Forwards somewhere. I don't have 2000
version any more, but in 2003 it's under Tools, Options, Email options. Check
"save copies of forwarded messages" & uncheck "close messages after reply or
forward." Then in Advance email options, check "Save forwarded messages."

Click View>Current View and see if you have your setting on "Unread
messages" instead of "Messages"
