How do I restrict access to or share folders?

In older versions of Windows, I could lock users out of select folders
with user rights from the properties dialog for those folders. Ditto if
I want to share them over the internet. Now that I have Vista 64-bit, I
only see those options for drives -- not folders.

So where did they move those options?

Hi Will,

Permissions haven't changed, and should be available on the security tab of
a folder's properties. In addition, you would also need to check settings in
the network and sharing center. Folders in the Public directories can be
shared automatically here, and you would need to enable "File sharing" as
well if other directories are to be included for external sharing.

You can also use icacls from an elevated command prompt to set sharing
attributes on chosen folders.
