How do I restore my original cursor in Word 2003?

My cursor in Word 2003 has changed from the standard flashing vertical line
to a flashing full stop. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to change
it back?

Hi Dan

It's a bug, and it's a bore. View > Zoom. Set it to 500% and then View >
Zoom back to 100%. You may need to re-start Word to get the setting to
persist.

Try setting the zoom to 500% and back to 100%. This is usually only a
temporary fix, though, and we don't know why the problem happens.
