How do I remove hardware safely without a mouse?

Stacy

I am trying to safely remove a USB storage device without
the use of a mouse. The mouse and USB share a USB port,
so if one is in use, the other is not. I cannot seem to
find the "safely remove hardware" option anywhere outside
of the task buttons in the task bar & do not know a
keyboard hot key to go to the task buttons. Anyone know
the secret???

Start, Run, devmgmt.msc will open device manager for you. You should be
able to tab down from there. Alt+A will allow you to disable the device
when it is highlighted.

To add to that, you really shouldn't be sharing your mouse USB port with
anything else... I'd either get a PS2 mouse or add a USE hub so you have
more ports available (get a powered hub, they're better IMHO)

FYI, in case you find this handy:

CTRL+ESC is the shortcut key that will simulate pressing the Start
button with your mouse.

You navigate the screen using the tab and arrow keys.
