How do i recover a corrupt local user profile?

How do i recover a corrupt local user profile? everytime i
log on, it says that
"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible
causes of this error include insufficient security rights
or a corrupt local profile. if this problem persists,
contact network administrator"

"Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you
on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this
profile will be lost when you log off."

Have you changed permissions on the profile folder recently?
If not, simply rename the "c:\Documents and Settings\usernamegoeshere"
folder once you're logged in to the temp profile. The next time you log on
Win will recreate the profile, then you can copy whatever files you may have
cared about in the renamed folder to the new folder.
