How do I re-allow xp Adapter?

Hi,

I have been very stupid. I am trying to get my NVIDIA card working in my
pc. However the card will not install properly and so it is using the
default adapter. I thought I had solved it and consequently disabled the
default adapter...

After the requested restart, windows is running but the monitor is blank
(power is on). So what I have done is to disallow the adapter...and I need
to re-allow it. This would be simple enough to do however its impossible to
do if you cannot see what you are doing! Any suggestions?!

I've tried going through the procedure on another machine and noting down
the shortcuts.. but this has not worked.. There must be an easier way?

Have you tried setting the BIOS to its default settings by removing the CMOS
battery?

Dont remove the battery or clear the CMOS...The BIOS gets reset after the
install, which is as follows on a MB with a display chip already installed
from
the mfg..Simply start pc with default video,in xp open device mgr, expand the
display adapter tree,R.click the hardware listed, select "uninstall",do for
the 1
or 2 listings w/o restart,close device,shutdown pc.Install new video
card,power
up,in xp,reopen device mgr,re uninstall default,close out,now install new
card
thru "found new hardware wizard" with cards cd or downloaded
drivers/software.
Once you reboot, restart pc to BIOS & adjust for new card,do not disable
on-board
video...Set & save,exit BIOS.
