How Do I Put Business Letter typed in Word on to a letterhead temp

Q

I received an e-mail where someone has typed a letter with headers, and I
want to put it on to our letterhead. I have our letterhead in My Documents.
Thank you!

Create a new document based on your letterhead template and use Insert |
File to insert the received letter.

Hi Suzanne:

I have my letterhead up and tried to insert my letter (which I saved in My
Documents). But on the Insert tab there is no option for My Documents. I'm
not too familar with MS 2007. Thank you.

You have two options.

One is what Suzanne said: Go to Insert - File. That should bring up a window
that will let you navigate to My Documents. Up at the top of that window will
be a field that says "Look In:" Click on the down arrow at the right of that
field, and you should be able to navigate to your letter.

Another way is just to open the letter, use Ctrl-A to select the entire
document, Use Ctrl-C to copy it, and then go to your letterhead and use
Ctrl-V to paste the letter's contents into your letterhead.

I hope one of these methods works.

I did go to the Insert tab, but there is no option for "File". There is only
Table, Picture, Clip Art, Shapes, Smart Art, and Chart. I'll go ahead and do
the copy and paste like I originally wanted to do. But my draft letter has
headers, and that will not copy and paste. My only option is to do the
headers again. Would that be correct. Thank you!

You haven't said what version of Word and Windows you're using. That might
make a difference.

It almost sounds as if your computer isn't showing full menus. When you go
to the Insert menu, is there a little double down arrow at the bottom of the
list? If so, some of your options are hidden. Try clicking on that double
down arrow to see if some additional options appear.

Hi Fred:

I'm using Windows XP Professional, Version 5.1, and Word 2007. I don't see
the double arrows that give you more options. I usually see that and choose
it, but it's not here.

Hi Fred:

for the double arrows originally for more options, but they are just not
there.

Word 2007 doesn't have toolbars. Follow the instructions in my previous
reply: Insert | Text | Object | Text from File.
