Error message received when trying to send mail through Word 2003:connection problem or a problem with your Office installation.

We are using Windows XP on SBS 2003 Prem & Office 2003 and it worked okay
before upgrading to 2003

The knowledge base answer I found says: ...............• Start Outlook 2003 before you try to send an e-mail message from Word 2003.
....... it already is open ......... !
• Do not use the Outlook COM add-in or the VBA code that is causing the
message box to appear when Outlook 2003 starts.
..........So - how do I not use Outlook COM add-in or the VBA code ?

Any links to information on "How to " or step by step idiot-proof guides
