How do I make Outlook Express my default email client?

I'm using Outlook Express, part of Microsoft Office Professional Edition
2003, as my default email. Whenever, I create a document in WORD and try to
address an envelope from my address book (Contact list) I get two error
messages:

"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot
fullfil the message request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set it
as the default mail client."

#2 .. Logon failed: You must log on to Microsoft Exchange to access your
address book. Error code, "Unspecified error."

Whenever I set Outlook Express in Internet Options as the default email
client, it swiches back to Outlook whenever I run Detect and Repair under
Help in Word.

This happend whenever I click on Envelopes and Labels to select a name to
type an address on an envelope.

Please advise (step by step) how to resolve this problem. I'm getting
really annoyed.

What ever made you think Outlook Express was a part of Office? It most
certainly is not. It is a part of Internet Explorer and has nothing
whatsoever to do with Office.
