How do I make margins and tabs remain stable in Word doc?

Southern gal living up north

I converted a PowerPoint file to Word. Everytime I reopen the Word doc, the
margins and tabulated work is all askew. After straightening it up, the next
time it's opened, the same thing occurs. I'm using Office 2003, Student
version.
-- I have XP.

At this point I'm not even sure how I converted it -- that was several months
ago and I've just kept redoing the margins. I believe I opened each slide,
highlighted it, hit COPY, opened the Word doc and hit PASTE. The slides were
straight copy. Once it was moved to Word, I redid a lot of the layout,
adding paragraphs, indenting sections, numbering them, etc. Admittedly, I
have spent more time correcting this margin problem, than I have in
restructuring the contents.

I don't know why margins change in Word.

If you're creating handouts, you might look into these add-ins that may help
you overcome the issue.

This project is a math book I'm critiqueing for a friend. I don't know that
the problem has to do with PowerPoint. The culprit could be Word as I've had
others tell me they've had margin problems with Word documents. Any ideas
along that line?
