how do I make explorer display my folders as just normal folders

hi,

every so often, vista decides one of my folders contains pictures or music
and decides to change how it's displayed.

sometimes I can do View/Customize this folder and select to use the 'all
items' as a template to put it back. however, now it's just decided my root
folder (i.e. c:\) contains pictures, but that menu item isn't available for
the root.

there aren't any pictures in the root, just some folders, autoexec.bat (I
didn't think we needed that anymore!!), pagefile.sys and all the usual
stuff.

what I would _really_ like is to configure vista to say I want to treat all
my folders as normal folders all the time, and always use detail view all of
the time with no exceptions full stop. I guess that's asking for too much so
if anyone can help me sort out the C drive that would at least be part of
the way there

TIA

Andy

right click on top folder in chain, select properties and customize.
use the drop down list to select your folder content.
check the box for apply to all sub folders.
then APPLY.
