I believe that there are some DVD Burning Issues with the Build 5472 .ISO
Image, Just FYI.

P.S. I previously used Daemon Tools to install X86 Build 5472 from with in
Windows XP Service Pack 2, and to install X64 Build 5472 from within Windows
XP X64 Edition (Free 120 Day Trial is Available on Microsoft's Website),
Also Just FYI.

P.P.S. I am currently Back On Windows Vista Beta Testing Strike, due to the
MS06-040 Vulnerability, Just FYI.

I've never used Nero 7 but your favourite search engine is often helpful
with questions like this.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=burn+vista+dvd+with+nero+7&btnG=Google+Search

In essence with all DVD burning programs you pick the option to burn an
image from a .ISO file not burn the file to a data disk. In Nero Burning Rom
6 you would close the wizard, from the file menu pick Open, browse to the
..ISO file and load it, then pick burn. With Nero Express 6 you would pick
Disc Image on the first screen. Do not use Nero Startsmart as it does not
have the option to burn images from a .ISO file.

Michael try following this:

Try this:

Make sure when you reburn you do it from within XP and run the setup that
will show up on the XP desktop:

Reburn Option:

1) Burn slowly. 4X should be fine. Some of this probably varies with the
DVD writer and the media.

2) Make sure to select an ISO tab if there is one on the burning software,
and make sure to close the session on the burn.

3) Try this tweak on your Windows XP drive and burn from there:

Get to Dev Manager by typing devmgmt.msc in run/win key + pause break or
Rt.click My Computer>Prop>hardware tab>Device Manager if you like 5 steps
instead of one cmd. If you're set to PMI here change to DMO and if set to
DMO change to PMI using these 5 steps:

1) Click the + in front of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers

2) Double Click the Secondary IDE Controller

3) Click Advanced Settings

4) Under Device 1 Next to Transfer Mode choose DMA (or vise versa)>Click
OK

5) Reboot your System

6) Check your burn with a CRC utility and the links for this are below
including the direct Taco Bell link. It is very classy, sophisticated, and
very Wagner Edstrom/McCann Ericson esque for MSFT to adopt a Taco Bell url
for their public Beta 2 CRC checker.

Obtain the CRC Utility for Vista Beta 2 Here: (The CRC utility is a way to
check
the integrity of the ISO Burn which is probably where your problem
lies--it's #1 on the list):

Here's a link:

The CRC utility for Beta 2 is contained here (Scroll down to the bottom
under "Additional Information"

Microsoft® Windows® Software Development Kit (SDK) for Beta 2 of Windows
Vista and WinFX Runtime Components
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...73-F5EA-4B7B-B022-97755838DB94&displaylang=en

Additional Information:

To verify that your download of an ISO file for the Windows SDK Beta 2 build
is not corrupt, download the CRC Utility. (Note: this is not a Microsoft
application. Use at your own risk.)

To run the CRC test, open a command prompt and run the utility. providing it
the name of the file (i.e. crc
c:\6.0.5383.1.1.WindowsSDK_Vista_idw.DVD.Rel.img) The CRC utility will run
two tests on the ISO: it will verify if the ISO is valid, and it will give
the AutoCRC signature for the file. The AutoCRC signature for the Windows
SDK Beta 2 ISO is 0x28434EEF. You should also confirm the size of the ISO is
correct: 1.14 GB (1,229,355,008 bytes).

If it fails any of these three tests, re-download the ISO (ordinarily--but
in this case you'll have to wait for RC1 which will be soon or if you're
using Technet or MSDN whatever build they are giving you):

I really like the direct link to it though if you right click CRC here>left
click Properties:

Good luck,

I much prefer Roxio burning software to nero. The ISO file burns without any
problem.

An earlier poster mentioned burning problems. This is true there have been
some problems. The gernal concensus was to burn at 1X or 2X. Obviously Chad
has had success with 4X but the 1 & 2X were the instructions i received.

I've got Nero 5. It goes like this:

Open Nero, close any inner window or wizard.
Under Recorder, select the dvd drive.
Under File, select Burn Image.
Then browse to the .iso file, open it, select a low speed, and click Burn.

If you use burncdcc, it is as easy as telling it where the .iso file is,
inserting the dvd, and pushing "burn"

The .iso image is already bootable. Just "burn image to disc." If the
resulting dvd is not booting it is due to a corrupt download, burning the
image at too high a speed, or incorrect media.

I have both and haven't noticed a difference in them. What I wish could be
easily pinpointed, John is media and hardware and software which could be
done with a large enough study of the variables. I suspect that some of the
media is not compatible with some of the DVD writers and that could be
contributing to the problems. I think the consumer is at a disadvantage
because a lot of the writers list very few approved media, some of the
brands are not easily found in stores or on line, and many brands work fine
with many writers that they never mention. Of course the ones recommended
are the most expensive. Whether you get what you pay for, I have no idea.
People I know who burn a lot of media as consultants, etc. for a living say
that they don't notice that much difference. I tried to survey the
literature on the web, and found more literature recommending DVD+ than
DVD - like this article: (but I didn't go after serious journals on the
subject).

Why DVD+ is Superior to DVD-
http://www.cdfreaks.com/print/article/113

I have no idea what MSFT found out in their rush mail out to try to test
their DVDs a few weeks ago. The DVDS I have gotten at some of the meetings
they made have been fine. MSFT is challenged hugely in the communications
skill area not to mention the intuitive menu area.

Michael I just happened to notice that you are using Nero 7. We've had a
lot of posts in different groups on its incompatibiilty with Vista. This may
have changed, or may change soon. I use the latest updates to Nero 6 and
have no problem. You might want to make sure you're using the latest
Updates to Nero 7.0 here:

Alex has given you the correct instructions Michael.
I also suggest you check the downloaded file for corruption *before* you
burn it to disk.
