How do I install Windows Recovery Console

B

Brian

I have Windows XP Home operating system. I need to install the Windows
Recovery Console for which I have instructions to install using the Windows
XP CD. However, the CD is for Service Pack 1; but I have updated my system
to Service Pack 2. When I try to install from the CD, it says that it is an
older version and I cannot install. I downloaded Service Pack 2 from the
internet and do not have the CD. Does anyone know of another way to
download and install Windows Recovery Console for Windows XP Home SP-2?

Thank you!
Brian

You have to slipstream the SP2 into your original WINXP SP1 disk - some links on how
to do this - depending upon what you want/need

then from the run box;

D:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons

The Autostreamer program looks very slick. Can it also be used if I have
only the "Recovery and Applications/Drivers" disk that came with my
computer? I tried to install them in the CD drive but the program doesn't
recognize them. Thank you!

If you have the full 266 MB SP2 download, or get the free CD with it,
you can burn a new CD in which that is 'slipstreamed' with your original
CD. That will then do these things, and should you ever need a complete
reinstall will do it in one
