How do I insert an animated GIF into a presentation

Inserting an animated GIF results in a non-animated picture appearing. Help
instructions indicate INSERT> Movies and Sound>Movie from file...but
inserting a GIF is not available as an option. I need to use 'All files@ but
this results in a static piucture. Grateful for any help.

An animated gif is just a picture (Insert, Picture, From File), however it
won't work in PPT 97 or earlier. Which version do you have?

As Bill said, PPT 97 doesn't play Ani-Gifs at all. Other versions do play
them, but only when the presentation is in slide show mode - not when it is
in edit mode. If the Ani-GIF still doesn't play, check this article from
Sonia's site about how PPT interprets the header information:
