When I import contact information from one Outlook program to another Outlook
on a second computer, all the email addresses have the words "SMTP (name of
contact) added to them. How do I import email addresses in their original
form?

Why are you importing in the first place? All you need to do is to copy the
pst file from one machine to the other, in Outlook do File-Open-Outlook Data
file and copy the contacts from one folder to the other.

As posted in all the Outlook groups almost on a daily basis....

Would suspect the reason would be because of the field mapping used on
import. "SMTP" is the <Email Address Type> which is added automatically for
SMTP type addresses (when a value is mapped to the <Email Address>fField).
What's curious is how the fields were actually mapped to get your outcome
(unless of course you reversed fields when importing the data).

However, that said, Gordon's question/answer is definitely the way to go
based on info provided in your post - importing would not be the solution of
choice in this scenario.
