How do I go directly to editing a worksheet in excel?

In Exel 2003, when I open up a saved spreadsheet, I get the view page and
then need to click on File to be able to edit the page. Is there a way I can
just open the saved spreadsheet and immediately start working on it?

If I follow you correctly right now what you do is you open excel and then
you open the file you want to work on from within Excel. What you want to
know is can that all be done in one step. Assuming that to be your question
then you just need to find the file in your Windows Explorer and open it from
there. This will open Excel and open the intended file...

Actually, I click on the icon on my desktop that takes me to the (networked)
H drive which holds all my folders. I click on a saved excel file and when
it opens, I need to click on File then scroll to "open for editing" before I
can start working on the spreadsheet. When the file first opens, it's as if
it is a "read only" file.

In older versions of Excel, I never had to do this before. Once I opened up
an excel file, I could start working on it immediately.

Thanks for replying.
