How do I get Vista to wake up to run maintence programs?

I have my computer set to back up at 3am on every Sunday and also to run
Virus scan around 5am every day, however, since the computer is in sleep mode
(or whatever it goes into when you don't use it for a while), these things
don't run until I come in and wake it up. Of course, at that time, I'm
wanting to USE the computer and not be backing up or running virus scan at
the same time. How do you tell it to wake up and perform these scheduled
tasks?

I have Windows Vista Home Premium.

Thank you for any help.

Try clicking on the Power Options applet in the Control Panel. Find a plan
that suits your needs. For mine on a desktop machine, the Energy Star
setting seems to be just what I want: Turn off the Display in 15 Minutes,
Put the computer to sleep: Never.

Scheduled Tasks provides the option to wake the computer from standby
or hibernation to perform a particular scheduled task. Enable this
option for each task.

I went into the set up for the back up and restore function - I don't see any
option to tell it to wake up the computer to perform the task. Where would I
find this option?

Ok, thank you, I finally found it in the task scheduler, it is not an option
where you set up the Back Up from the backup/restore menu. Not really easy
to find for an average user. Thanks for the help.
