How do I get rid of "Windows Installer" delay?

I have Office 2003 Pro. Whenever I click on the WORD icon, the Windows
Installer box appears, there's a long delay, then finally WORD opens. All
other apps (Access, Excel, etc.) open immediately without the Windows
Installer box coming up first. The shortcut for WORD goes to winword.exe, so
I just can't figure out how to get rid of the Windows Installer delay. Any
ideas? Thanks.

this is usually an indication that there's a problem with the installation.
I'll see this on my system if I run an earlier version of Word, then later run
Word 2003, for example. But it could also mean there's a damaged file, or
Registry key.

In the HELP menu there's an entry "Detect and Repair". If you run that, is the
problem gone the next time you start Word?

Hi Cindy,

Unfortunately, I ran Detect and Repair, and it didn't fix it. BTW, I work
with various people from ARP Datacon AG in Switzerland - do you know this
company?

I know of it (I recall receiving catalogues once, long ago),
but I don't think I've ever done any business with them.

I'm out of ideas, then. But you might try asking the people who
specialize in setup problems in the Offic setup newsgroup.
