Have you tried a new mail profile? Have you applied all Service Packs?

After furious head scratching, jojo asked:

| ||
||| See "here we go again" on 10/25
||| I think some of the instructions had me create a new profile, but I
||| don't remember doing what you describe here.
||| Can you give me or point me to instructions>
||| win 98 and office2000 small business (for outlook)
||
|| Create a new PST with File>Open>Personal Folders File. Browse to
|| the folder where it should be stored (or accept the default), give
|| it a name (or accept the default) and click OK. Assign it a display
|| value (or accept the default) and click OK. The PST will now appear
|| in your Folder List, if you display it.
||
|| My personal approach at this point would be to make the new PST the
|| delivery location and move the data from the old PST to the new. If
|| your Outlook is in Internet Only Mode, you can do this by selecting
|| the PST in the folder list and choosing File>Properties. There's an
|| option there to select the PST as the delivery location. For
|| Corporate/Workgroup mode, you can select the delivery location from
|| Tools>Services>Delivery. Once you've chosen the delivery location,
|| stop and restart Outlook.
|
| My last step was to stop, reboot then restart outlook.
| This is as far as I got. I did everything above...precisely
|
| now I have 3 main folders
| mailbox-myname (this is the original one)
| outlook today -[personal folders] (this is the new one we made above
| and is now the default)
| public folders
|
| If I go to calendar in outlook today -[personal folders] and select
| it, outlook closes.
| This is a brand new file with nothing in it.
|
| I'm SO FRUSTRATED..
|
| Thanks for you help so far, any other suggestions?

I cannot find any pst or ost files on the server to delete.
Did a full search for both on all drives.
Oh, I did find one archive.pst file dated 2003

yes to new mail profile.

I tried to apply the first service pack, but it will not let me.
At some point during the installation it asks for a Word cd.
I do not have a Word cd. I have a office 2000 small business
that was an upgrade for office 97 small business.

It simply would not let me continue.
Thing is, this program/version has been working peachy for 3 years.

sigh...
any ideas?
