How do I get rid of IE?

Johnny

Over the past two days, Internet Explorer will suddenly "take over" my
PC, opening window after window, until it locks up the PC. I tried to
restore to an earlier checkpoint, but no good. I tried to uninstall IE,
but it refuses to let me. Every time I delete the files, and then empty
the recycle bin, they appear back in my programs folder, like I did
nothing at all. Is this a virus? How do I get rid of it? As you can
tell, I'm not overly mechanically gifted.

Thank you for any help you can give me and my "at wit's end" wife.

You may have a Hijacker. If you can get to the Internet do the following:

Get HiJackThis: - Free

Go to
http://computercops.biz/downloads-cat-14.html ,

and download HiJackThis. Unzip to a folder other than your Desktop or the
Temp folder, doubleclick HiJackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button. Press that, save the log somewhere, and please show

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix
anything yet.

Then go here to post you log:
http://forum.aumha.org/

Go to the HiJackThis section on the forum list and click to open. You can
post as a guest, or create a logon profile. It's also a good site to keep
for reference. The experts there will analyze the log and report back the
results. Please allow at least a days time for a response.

Remember, you must return to the HJT site to get your answer.

It is also possible you may have parasites on your system causing the
problem. Download, install, update and run the programs below. They are
free and very effective. Be sure to run both SpyBot and Adaware, as what one
does not detect the other may. Follow the directions carefully.

SpyBot Search & Destroy: Free

or

AdAware: Free

Thank you for the information! I installed Ad Aware, and it immediately
found the problem. It was indeed a "hijacker" that I had deleted, and
the problem is no more. I'm grateful for your help (and my wife can
salvage her remaining hair *smile*)!

You're very welcome, Johnny. Glad I could help save your wife's crowning
glory. (big smile)
