how do i get outlook 2007 instead of windows live mail from messen

When I click the mail icon in windows live messenger, it opens windows live
mail. I have just installed office 2007 and would rather it open outlook
2007 instead.

Can this be done?

Only when you logon with and address that isn't associated with Windows Live
Hotmail and have Outlook set as your default mail application.

For other possibilities, consult the Windows Live Messenger groups.

a mailto link in a web page)
is outlook open? (not sure it matters, but my outlook is open and the mail
link brings outlook in focus)

outlook with that link). I just uninstalled windows live mail, and now when
I click the envelope icon in windows live messenger, it opens hotmail in a
browser window.

is outlook set as the default mail client? (i.e., does it open if you click
a mailto link in a web page)
is outlook open? (not sure it matters, but my outlook is open and the mail
link brings outlook in focus)

hello,
so if I have an *@hotmail.com email address, and I click the envelope icon
in windows live messenger, I cannot have it set to open outlook 2007?
Outlook currently is set as the default mail application. I just uninstalled
windows live mail, and now the envelope icon will take me to hotmail via
internet explorer (I was hoping maybe if I got rid of Live Mail it would open
Outlook... drats.

Correct, for Windows Live Hotmail accounts it will first detect if Windows
Live Mail is installed and open that when the envelope is clicked. If that
is not installed it will open the web interface of Windows Live Hotmail. I
believe it does respect your default browser then though and won't force you
to use Internet Explorer ;-)

I'm not sure if this behavior can be changed with Messenger Plus! Live;

hi, I just tried Messenger Plus! Live, it works with Pop3 accounts only. So
for my gmail account I can use outlook, but as hotmail is not pop3 I don't
think there is anyway around it at this point in time... i might have a
search for messenger patches...
