How do I get Outlook 2003 to accept and Exchange 5.5 server?

I am trying to set up an Exchange Server 5.5 e-mail on Outlook 2003. How do
I do it?

Same way as any other version of Exchange. Control Panel | Mail and add
the Exchange Server service to your profile.

It will not allow me to add the account. It keeps telling me it can not
connect to the server and it will not confirm my mailbox.

ISTR, though, that there are essential patches Exchange 5.5 needs to operate
properly with Outlook 2003.

It's been so long since I had any Exchange 5.5 installations to support that
I don't recall. If he's not current on his patching though he should get
current on it ASAP.
