How do I get my Styles back?

This morning I find that most of my styles are no longer in word 2007. They
are not even in existing documents that I previously created (the text
formatted with the styles that are no longer available still look correct
though) . Some of the styles are there, but many others are not. Where did my
styles go and how do I get them back?

This sounds like an issue of style *display.* Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S to show
the Styles pane. Click Options. Make sure that "Select styles to show" is set
to "All styles." (You may also want to change the sort to "Alphabetical".)
Then click "New documents based on this template," and click OK. Does that
help?

Also, note that you could have inadvertently turned off the option to track
formatting. In Office button | Word Options, click the Advanced category.
Under "Editing options," make sure "Keep track of formatting" is checked.
Click OK.

Unfortunately neither suggestion led me to my lost styles. Where could they
be? Could they have been corrupted during one of the many word or outlook
crashes?

Something pecular is going on here... Documents certainly get corrupt at
times, but it would be very unlikely that this happened to a lot (all?) of
your documents at once.

Were the lost styles built-in or custom?
