How do I get Direct 9.0 for Windows XP

R

Robin

I tried to download direct x 9.0 and it didn't work. My
children have received certain games like Midnight Club 2
and it will not play without direct x 9.0. These games
are not cheap to buy and i would like to see my kids play
them. The Windows XP that is installed in my pc is 8.1.
Please let me know how to obtain Direct X 9.0

Hi Robin,

Download and install the complete DirectX 9.0b from:
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...-4c98-baf3-0c67e7f3751f/dx90update_redist.exe
*Antivirus / Firewalls can corrupt the download and installation,
it's highly recommended you disable them during this process.

Why don`t you choose Windows Update in the www.microsoft.com web site? IT WILL UPDATE ALL YOUR MICROSOFT SOFTWARE.It will take a while.BE PATIENT.

I had the same problem. I booted the computer in safe
mode. From the start buttom to run type REGEDIT and find
your way to
Hkkeylocal\machine\software\microsoft\directx. Delete
just the directx at the end and exit the program. Now you
should be able to load directx that you downloaded. Re
boot in normal mode. It worked for me! Good luck

Go to Windows Update page will get Direct X 9. Beware
though I have it downloaded o.k. Tested o.k. But have
now lost sound on my Pinball game and other Windows
games. Two of the drivers have been affected.

I tried to install DirectX 9.0 but I keep getting the message that
it has not passed windows logo testing. I also tried downloading it
from the MS website, same problem. I tried loading in safe mode.
No luck. I have been told to make sure that the cryptographic service
is turned on, mine is. Any ideas?
HELP ME PLEASE!!!

Hi Dolby,

Here are a few solutions for the DirectX 9 "Logo Testing" error:

1. Click Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services
Scroll down to "Cryptographic Services", double click it and
change Startup type to: Automatic and click the "Start" button.

2. If you haven't installed SP1 yet, download and Install it from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...79-fa3a-48bf-ade5-023443e29d78&DisplayLang=en

3. The resolution at the bottom of this page worked for some users:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;813442

4. If the problem persists, go to c:\windows\system32 and rename
the catroot2 directory to catrootold. Catroot2 might be too full.

5. Save and then Open the "DX9 Logo Error" patch on Line 189
for WinXP at: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

6. Repairing Windows is our final option. Boot from your Windows
CD (you may have to press F12 while starting up, or change the
bootup order in your BIOS) and then follow the instructions at:
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm Good luck! :)
