How do I flatten layers in Power Point before converting to PDF?

I have converted a PowerPoint 2007 file to PDF, but it cannot be printed
correctly on a commercial printer. I have been told there are "transparencies
in my file, which are like layers and tha they happen when you have placed
multiple images in your file and that these things need to be flattened so
that there are no layers."

I would also like to know if this only a problem where images overlap, or
if this is a problem where there are multiple images on a page.

Generally this is a problem for some printers and it does not matter if the
transparencies overlap or not.

Look at the instructions I gave to AM@Phoenix in the message called
"Macros - Excel to Powerpoint" Your instructions on how to flatten layers
will be the same.

PowerPoint doesn't have layers in the Photoshop sense. I'm) guessing that
your friends may mean select all of the transparent images (ctrl click > cut
and paste special (as png). Do this on a copy as you will lose any
animations. That may print / convert a little better.

You could save your presentation as a series of BITMAPS

eg. JPGs PNGs BMPs etc

These 'are flattened' in the sense they contain no 'elements' (vector
graphics information) - they just contain DOTS (pixels).

Where as a PDF file are mostly made up of elements/objects/vector graphic
information (some of which maybe transparency information.

However, the printer will be able to print at a better quality from PDFs
then from bitmaps!
