How do I fix Dr. Watson?

Hi
Recently I had a crash and opened the Dr. Watson utility but found no record
of the crash. The applications error window was blank; there is however, a
Dr. Watson folder and within it a log file. There is no record of the crash
there either but I received a Microsoft crash analysis report the next day so
I assume a report was sent to Microsoft. Any thoughts on what is happening
and how I can make sure that Dr. Watson is up and running? Thanks

Hi,

Crashes usually create a dump file, and this is what is sent if you have
error reporting enabled. Generally, it's found as a mini*.dmp file in the
user-defined temp directory. To view any recorded details, use the event
viewer in administrative tools (or just start/run eventvwr.msc). If you want
to run Dr. Watson, click start/run and type drwtsn32.exe, and you can use it
to create a log, but there is really no need to.

Hi Rick
Thanks for the information. I understand your explaination except for one
further question: what does Dr. Watson record; I remember once viewing an
error in the applications window? Thanks.

Hi,

Pretty much the same thing, it's just a different interface.
