How do I embed a jpg image in Access and then merge that picture .

I am working a high school reunion.

I have scanned in all of my classmates individual pictures into separate jpg
files.

I want to embed the jpgs (pictures) into Access and then merge the pictures
along with my classmate's names on to nametags that I will then print.

I also want to print a directory with their pictures, names and other data.

What is the best way to do this? Which program should I use for the merge?

I am using Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003.

Thanks for your suggestion. I downloaded the sample and copied over the table
to my existing database. I will try to figure out how to use it. But is there
a way to embed the pictures. The database is not large and the paths to the
linked pictures may change based on which computer I transfer to Access file
to.

Use an Image control, but bind it to the photo. There is an example in the
Northwind sample database Employees form. There is a significant amount of
database bloat associated with storing images, unless they are converted to
BLOBs. There is a 3rd party control that helps store them efficiently at

The sample imaging databases at http://accdevel.tripod.com illustrate three
approaches to handling images in Access, and the download includes an
article discussing considerations in choosing an approach. Two of the
approaches do not use OLE Objects and, thus, avoid the database bloat, and
some other problems, associated with images in OLE Objects.

If you are printing the images in reports, to avoid memory leakage, you
should also see MVP Stephen Lebans' http://www.lebans.com/printfailures.htm.
PrintFailure.zip is an Access97 MDB containing a report that fails during
the Access formatting process prior to being spooled to the Printer Driver.
This MDB also contains code showing how to convert the contents of the Image
control to a Bitmap file prior to printing. This helps alleviate the "Out of
Memory" error that can popup when printing image intensive reports.
