how do i edit overlayed slides?

I have a bunch of slide shows and I have used overlayed slides with callouts
in each presentation. THese now need to be translated into another language.
How can I do this easily without having to mark each layer and re-order by
sending to back to get at the callouts hidden in middle of overlayed slides?
I thought that as each callout is numbered there might be a way to do this
via custom animation - but there does not seem to be.

Are you using version 2007 or the 2010 beta? (selection pane will help)
Is search and replace text an option?
