How do I do 3 monitors?

Hello,
I am running XP pro with a 256mg ATI video card, from which I manage 2
monitors now, no problem.

But I really need a third!
So I picked up a "PCI 32mg VGA" single output card. Windows recognized the
card and installed it. The driver was also updated.

During boot-up it 'flickers' with the others for a bit and then just goes
black.

The monitor even showed up in the Dispaly properties, it showed all three
monitors. When I tried to change the settings the PC either locked up,
crashed or went into 800 x 600 256 res mode.

When I called the store from which I purchased the PCI card, they said that
I needed a dual output card because XP will not let me use a single output
card...?

Please help...
Thank you

First off, thank you for the reply...
I found several of the links to be interesting and informitive, while some
of the others I have already tried.

Nothing I have read though has or will resolved the problem.

I did find out that the display adapter (PCI card) was on the Microsoft
list; "SiS 315"

Primary AGP: PowerColor 9250, Powered by Radeon (ATI)
Secondary PCI-VGA: 3D Phantom XP-PCI3800 (display adapter SiS 315)

I shall continue the hunt to get this right...
I'll probably take the PCI card back to the store!

Thanks again

Hi Pixelmixer,

Good luck, I have no solution for you, but I also need help. Trying to setup
to run two monitors from a single computer. The card currently installed on
my computer is an ATI XPERT 98D 8MB 3D 2X AGP Graphics card. I just purchased
a GeForce FX PCI 128 MB graphics accelerator which I have not yet installed.

I am an absolute novice and will ask some dumb questions here. Do duplicate
icons appear on both screens? Does the mouse cursor appear on both screens?
My intent is to run seperate programs on each screen? Is that possible? As
you can see I need a kindergartner primer:).

Any help from you would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Once you get the multiple monitors working, you need to go to Control Panel, Display, Settings tab. Use the Identify button to show you which monitor is which. Select the external monitor and check the box to extend desktop to that monitor, then you can drag various open program windows to that area of the desktop and have them only display there.

Win XP only support 2 video cards. You can nave more than two monitors on
the same card but you need to buy a special card. You can buy video cards
with multi monitors. But you can only put 2 video cards in you computer with
Win XP.

Hi

This is not correct. A friend of mine have 5 separate and active video
cards in one computer (1 AGP and 4 PCI), it was first running Windows
2000, and now it is running Windows XP.
