how do i delete my "search trail"

Hello. My wifes father had a shady past and so i was
doing a search under his name through google.com. Now i
cant figure out how to get rid of his name from the search
box. I know it will my wife will be annoyed when she sees
that i was trying to read up on her father, how can i get
rid of this search trail?

Hello,
here's my solution, hopefully it works on your side as
well. begin to type the past search you are trying to
delete in the search box, when it opens the suggestion
box to complete your search, click the arrow down to
select it and hit the delete key, that should remove it.
