How do I delete an AutoCorrect-generated Border Line?

I created a line to visually separate information by using the AutoCorrect
feature. I typed several hyphens and hit enter. A line across the page was
created as desired. Later, I changed my layout and no longer need the Border
Line. I want to delete it, but can't find a way to do so.
I have tried using the Format-->Borders and Shading-->Borders: Setting:
None approach and it doesn't work. I tried changing the Formatting Style and
that didn't work. It won't let me select it for deletion either. How do I
get rid of the unwanted line?

If you click in the para immediately *above* the line you should be able to
use Format>Borders & Shading - None to clear the border. Turn on the
non-printing characters to determine whether it is an 'empty' para or a text
paara that has the border applied to it.

Unfortunately, the suggested action prevents the creation of these lines
in the future, but does not delete lines so created. I do not want to
prevent the creation of these lines since I use them fairly often. My
problem is that I want to delete a line generated by AutoCorrect, but can't
find a way to delete it.
Further investigation has revealed that the line is part of a Formatting
Style on the line. But when I select the line containing the line (I hope
that makes sense) and try to select a different style, it doesn't work and
the line remains unchanged. Any other suggestions for deleting the line
across the page? Thanks for your help.
